Quote of the Day - Booker T. Washington

Success is to be measured not so much by the position that one has reached in life as by the obstacles which have been overcome while trying to succeed.

- Booker T. Washington

Washington was much criticized and maligned for the postions he took in life concerning African-Americans fight for equality, but in this quote I think he catches something very important. He sets a different standard for what is success.

Now many people might disagree with this quote, and sometimes I probably agree with them. I would like to hear your thoughts. Feel free to comment.

Umm I'm not so sure about this one. Success in most aspects is determined by reaching goals. And in turn that goal could be the position in your life that you have obtained or reached. It's kind of iffy so I don't totally agree with it. Although if you have to look at it from multiple perspectives. He was like you said talking about Black peoples fight for equality. And when it comes to that I think people find a more profound sense of accomplishment in what the people went through to get to a certain point. You know equal rights or political freedom or freedom from religious persecution. So if you look at it that way then I agree with it because you never know what people go through and sometimes you do and it's truely remarkable what they did go through. So yeah, it depends on how you look at it.
